Thanksgiving

For a wonderful wife

And a life without strife

(Relatively speaking)

For relatives who love me

And even the ones

That don't, exactly

For my health at fifty-five

And the surgeons who

Fixed my heart

So I could remain alive

For the doctor who discovered

A melanoma, and the surgeon

Who removed that cancer

So I could recover

For California

And the Sea

What a glorious place

To be!

For a democracy

Not yet corrupted

Totally

For the future

Whatever it brings

(Will our freedom bell

Still ring?)

I am thankful

Very thankful

For these things
